Alan Rominger
This is my static-files only web presence (I have shut down a few hosted services). Some of it traces back to doing the Iron Yard in 2015. Other stuff here is recent AI-generated fun things. I originally studied nuclear engineering, but work in enterprise software now. My hobbyist interest is space concepts for the future involving heavy physics.
Contact
If you send me a message on LinkedIn I should see it, I just need to think it’s from a real human to not ignore it. Personal email is alan (dot) rominger at gmail, which I also get things at.
My GitHub profile is AlanCoding.
I have also spent time on Physics Stack Exchange.
Things I’ve Worked On
These are things where I was mostly the original author, and they are important, actually used with real enterprise systems. They are unique for a few reasons. They were ground-up rewrites of something that previously existed and that I had maintained (the only time it ever really made sense to do a ground-up rewrite). They are made even more unique by happening fairly soon before the AI revolution, so I wrote them the old-fashioned way, and it is increasingly unlikely that will ever happen again in quite the same way.
Python is my home base. As you can see in dispatcherd, I am leaning ever more heavily toward asyncio. I am very interested in developing more with graphics libraries, but this is mostly a hobbyist interest. In school I did numerical simulations, and now I am mostly in backend development.
